Homemade Scratchboard Zentangle
Students will be making a homemade scratchboard Zentangle to explore patterns, shapes, lines, and colors.
Day One
Students will learn about Zen tangles. Then they will use their pencil eraser to create a line that they will trace to make a double Zen tangle line . The students will then use their best coloring practices to make color in the blank spaces.
Day Two
Students will finish coloring in all the empty spaces with their best coloring practices to build a thick layer of crayon. Once they have finished, they will bring their paper to the teacher to be covered in drawing ink. They will then work on the Zen tangle practice sheet.
If the students finish the two shapes, they can create their own zentangle on the back and use crayons to color them in.
Day Three
The students will start the day with a warm-up activity on commercial scratchboard. The students will then work on their scratchboard by scraping a pattern into each area of the Zentangle.
