Idea Eggs!
Students will read What Do You Do With An Idea? by Kobi Yamada and create an egg using clay that is inspired by the artwork seen in the book.
Day One
The Class reads the book What Do You Do With An Idea? by Kobi Yamada.
The students will then have a discussion about the book and the way the “Idea” is illustrated.
The students are given a blank egg handout and then use pencil to draw the elements that they want on their egg. (Wings, Legs, Stripes, Hats, Crowns)
Once the students are ready to move on they can use Crayons to think bout the colors they want their egg to be. (Use this time to work on good coloring practices.)
Day Two
Walk the students through making a pinch pot, adding elements with clay, and pressing texture into the clay.
Day Three
Students will be glazing. Bring out the egg worksheet that the students did on the first day of the lesson for them to use as inspiration for the colors in their glazing.
Day Four
Students will get their clay pieces back and have a discussion about the class’s work. Students will be asked to mention something about classmates that they like and something about their artwork that they would like to do better or differently.
